Middle School Strength & Conditioning
Middle School Strength & Conditioning Program
(ages 11-13)
FIRST SESSION is Monday, August 2nd
Designed and implemented by our Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Pat Burgess, ACE's is a baseball specific training program designed to increase speed, quickness, power, and aerobic capacity in high school athletes while simultaneously improving their baseball fundamentals. As the program progresses we target specific areas of need during the different times of the year. Completion of this program will ensure that your athlete is in peak physical condition and fundamentally prepared to compete in their little league or travel ball season.
PRE-SEASON (August-December): The training emphasis for the pre-season portion is to generate full body strength and conditioning. Atheltes will perform "core" lifts to develop a stable foundationand also conditionto create better overall aerobic capacity. We will be emphasising proper technique to help build the foundation for future strength training. We want each athlete to build his or her base around functional movement patterns which will translate to better on field performance.
PROGRESS TRACKING: The athletes are evaluated through each portion of the program using a battery of measurements which are listed below. Athletes will also keep individual exercise journals in order to track their personal progression through the program.
- 40 yard dash
- Pushups
- Squats
- Vertical jump
- Shuttle run
- Core strength
- 100 series
- "T" drill
ADDITIONAL TRAINING COMPONENTS: Athletes will also work on speed training designed to develop an explosive first step, functional strength training that incorporates baseball specific movements, and an agility program which will allow the athlete to move with little or no wasted movement.
