Club Team Goals
All-Star Academy is different from any other program in the Bay Area because of our commitment to developing competitive teams not simply recruiting them. Our goal is to take 12u athletes on teams with stable rosters and develop them into competitive High School players and future college prospects. Our player's benefit from a program designed to make them the best individual player, the best team player, and the best person that they can be. As our teams progress in competence, we introduce more competitive game strategies and recruitment, but we do not change our fundamental goals and strategies:
- To develop individual skill sets,
- To develop players as a team,
- To develop players to become stronger and faster, and
- To develop teams/players to be competitive.
Strategies
- Developing individual players
- As the first step in team development, we use an advanced level of baseball knowledge and training techniques with individual assessments to set goals and measure effectiveness in our program. We strive to produce stronger, faster, well-conditioned athletes. We also work to develop the personal skills of confidence, respect, integrity, and responsibility. We help our players deal with the frustration, loss and failure that can be a part of baseball; and we celebrate the personal growth that we use to measure success.
- Developing players as a team
- Our coaches achieve team chemistry by relating to our players on a very personal level and showing dedication to every individual on our roster. We work to establish a tight knit group of players that compliment each other on and off the field.
- Developing Players Physically
- ASA is committed to developing not only fundamentally sound players but physically fit ones as well. Through our strength & conditioning programs we strive to give our athletes the tools to achieve their full potential.
- Developing teams to be competitive
- Once a team is ready to make the transition to being competitive, new players will be recruited only if they improve the team's ability to compete.
- Roster size will be expanded at the coach's discretion to allow for individual player specialization (e.g. Pitcher-only), to allow for individual player competition which motivates performance, & to allow for injured/slumping athletes to have downtime. This strategy allows the coach to put the best line-up on the field on any given day.
- At this point, all playing time will be earned not guaranteed.
