Expectations
- Players
- Be on time for practices, meetings and games.
- Arrive fully prepared mentally and physically with all necessary equipment.
- Give 100% at practice, in lessons, and at games.
- Hustle at all times.
- Practice good sportsmanship and respect your fellow players, coaches, umpires and opposing teams no matter what their
behavior.
- Save complaints, criticisms, and whining for one-on-one time with the coach. If your concerns are appropriate for team
discussion, the coach will initiate the discussion, not the player.
- Take responsibility for improvement. Do homework drills assigned by instructors and coaches; and identify skills
learned during practice that you need extra work on. Practice these as well.
- Parents
- Provide support for the player so that he can be on time, be equipped, and be ready to work and learn.
- Contact the coach for any absences at practices, meetings, or games.
- Support the team and the team goals.
- Support the coaches and their goals.
- Respect the game by showing good sportsmanship toward all those involved. Remember, it is the coach's job to deal with
opposing coaches and umpires if action is necessary.
- The dugout is for the players and coaches, not parents.
- Avoid coaching the player. If there are concerns or suggestions, approach the coach. This is a time when parents step
back and remain silent unless asked by player or coach for comment.
- Parents can play a role in recruitment by encouraging competitive and compatible players and referring them to the
coaches.
- Coaches
- Be on time for practices, meetings and games.
- Communicate effectively with parents about schedules, goals, and team issues.
- Communicate effectively with players about expectations and goals. Conduct organized practices with professional
instruction.
- Show respect for the game as a role model of acceptable behavior in all areas including sportsmanship, team discipline
and hustle.
- Support All Star Academy Club Team goals.
- Treat each player individually with personalized assessments and goal setting.
